My Books
Although the writing I do for adults is closest to my heart, I love to write stories for younger people as well.
My literary debut, Finn: a novel, is a modern telling of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but with girls as protagonists rather than boys. Instead of being set on the Mississippi River, which used to be considered the dividing line between wilderness and civilization, my Finn explores the territory between suburb and inner city.
My latest novel, The Flown Sky, is a fantasy in the tradition of C.S. Lewis's Narnia Chronicles, but minus the heavy Christian and imperialistic overtones. It stars my daughter. If she were a small, monkey-like creature who lived on a tropical island.
